Next Step Award, a €25,000 prize.



This summer, I had the honor of receiving the prestigious Next Step Award, generously funded by the VandenEnde Foundation. This esteemed accolade recognizes both work I created prior to attending the National Film and Television School, as well as my films I made during the Masters program. I am incredibly grateful to have been selected as the winner among the other talented nominees by the Jury comprising Vanessa Henneman (Henneman Agency), Lloyd Marengo (Lloyd's company), and Robert Soomer (Artistic Manager of The Metropole Orchestra). This remarkable achievement comes with a monetary prize of €25,000, which will enable me to take the next significant stride in my career. 


An excerpt from the jury report: "Her exceptional quality of work, coupled with her clear ambition and unwavering focus, makes her one of the most promising filmmakers of our time.  Sarah exhibits a profound understanding of the complexities of the human condition, evident in both her documentary and fiction pieces. Through her films, she masterfully presents characters who, together with the audience, grapple with their subconscious biases and expectations. Her imaginative approach to working with actors and staging forms the very essence of her creations, likely serving as the wellspring of their visual power.”
