Vrijheid Blijheid, theatre on location .
I was honored to have been asked by De Tekstsmederij to write a play commemorating the Second World War for Museumnacht Amsterdam.
Vrijheid Blijheid, directed by Kasper Kapteijn and performed by the talented actors Simon Heijmans and Tobias Nierop, was staged at the Resistance Museum. The play is centered around the story of two security guards stationed at the museum, who spent their days watching visitors.
Through observing the guards witching the visitors, I aimed to explore the meaning of freedom and the ways in which it is manifested in contemporary society. The play was an invitation to reflect on this fundamental value and to consider the sacrifices made by previous generations to secure our freedoms.
